Sisters of Charity Health System has created the new position of chief information officer and hired a woman who held the same role in an Erie, Pa., health system to fill it.

Robin Stursa joined Sisters of Charity from Saint Vincent Health System, where she managed the system’s health information technology operations, according to a statement from Sisters of Charity.

Stursa brings 20 years of IT experience to Sisters of Charity. While at Saint Vincent, she managed a rural health care pilot program that received a $1.7 million broadband award from the Federal Communications Commission, according to the statement.

Stursa started with Sisters of Charity on March 15.

Earlier this year, Sisters of Charity regained sole ownership of St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland and Mercy Medical Center in Canton, after sharing 50 percent ownership of the two hospitals with University Hospitals under joint venture agreements struck in 1999. Sisters of Charity later dropped the “hospital” portion of St. Vincent’s moniker and replaced it with “Health System.”
