Irish contract medical device designer to open Cleveland office

Contract medical device designer and manufacturer Creganna-Tactx Medical plans to open an office in a business incubator on Cleveland Clinic‘s campus.

The Galway, Ireland-based company specializes in minimally invasive devices for a wide range of customers, including startups to the world’s leading medical device firms. The focus of its Cleveland office will be preclinical research and development support, particularly in the area of atrial fibrillation, or irregular heartbeat, according to a statement from Creganna-Tactx.

Creganna-Tractx’s Cleveland office will be in the Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center (GCIC), a $19 million, 50,000-square-foot building on Cleveland Clinic’s campus that opened last year. The goal of the Ohio Third Frontier-backed incubator is to house and feed fledgling companies that are developing products and services to diagnose or treat cardiovascular disease.

“Working with Cleveland Clinic’s GCIC, we can help bridge the gap between the designer and end-user physician in the development process,” said Randall Sword, a business development executive with Creganna-Tactx.

In addition to Ireland, Creganna-Tactx has offices in Massachusetts, Minnesota, California, South Korea and Singapore. The company has about 1,000 employees worldwide.

A similar medical device outsourcing company, New Hampshire-based Farm, opened an office in the GCIC last year.
