Nonin Medical launches finger pulse oximeter upgrade

Nonin Medical has launched the Onyx Vantage 9590 professional finger pulse oximeter at the European Respiratory Society 2011 Annual Conference in the Netherlands.

An upgrade from the Onyx II 9550 (and Onyx 9500), the product can measure the pulse, even in the presence of low perfusion. The product can be used for situations that need fast and accurate pulse rate and blood oxygen saturation readings, including scenarios ranging from emergency services and triage to readings taken in a doctor’s office.

One upgrade feature is an increase in spot checks for added reliability. The Onyx II 9550 had 2,500 spot checks and the Onyx 9500 only had 1600, but the 9590 has 6,000 spot checks. Another improvement is in versatility; one unit works on pediatric patients as well as larger adults.

Manufactured in Plymouth, Minnesota, the oximeter has numeric LED lights that display oxygen saturation and pulse rate. Nonin Medical also commissioned independent lab tests that found the product free of lead (unlike similar products by two leading Chinese manufacturers).

The product, which retails for $225.00, is estimated to ship out next month

Nonin Medical is a Minneapolis-based company that manufactures capnographs, sensors, software and accessories, as well as both pulse oximeters and regional oximeters. The company distributes its products in more than 125 countries.
