One chief medical officer’s view on data, community and collaboration

“Organizations should not have information as a basis for competition. We should work to have data shared so [that] data can be assembled into the most complete picture we can get of an individual. Organizations should then compete on how well they serve an individual based on that information.”

- Dr. Charles Fazio

Fazio is the former chief medical officer and senior vice president at Medica Health Plans in Minneapolis who on Wednesday was named the CMO of Gestalt Health. Gestalt manages patient information for health professionals and insurance companies.

Fazio says he’ll help Gestalt by conveying that “vision of a community collaboration.” In addition, he’ll work with the company on “the design of the content and the format of the views our constituents will get into the information” as well as developing partnerships.
