The largest group purchasing organization Novation has signed a 3-year contract with fingertip pulse oximeter vendor Nonin Medical, based in Plymouth, Minnesota.

In a news release on Thursday, Nonin announced that the more than 65,000 member and affiliate organizations who are clients of Novation will be able to purchase Nonin’s Onyx Vantage 9590 professional fingertip pulse oximeter, PalmSAT2500 handheld pulse oximeter, and Wrist-Ox2 3150 wrist-worn pulse oximeter and sensors. The price will be discounted for these members.

“Novation is known for offering the highest-quality products that demonstrate the most clinical and economic value to the members it serves,” said Kevin McGowan, Vice President-Global Sales for Nonin Medical, in a news release. “We’re pleased to offer Novation’s hospital, clinic, home-health and long-term care customers more choices with our clinically proven pulse oximeters.”

A spokeswoman declined to reveal how much additional revenue Nonin Medical hopes to garner from this contract. She noted that the company has 200 employees combined in Minnesota and a Swedish service center.

Nonin launched the Onyx Vantage 9590 at the 2011 annual conference of the European Respiratory Society in September.
