God sent a home health nurse to Detroit polling place

A home healthcare nurse brought an elderly man back to life after his heart stopped beating while he voted.

A Detroit man died while he was voting on Monday. Lucky for a him a home healthcare worker was at the polling place at the same time.

The Detroit News reports how Ty Houston saved the elderly man’s life:

“He was dead,” Houston said. “He had no heartbeat and he wasn’t breathing. I started CPR, and after a few minutes, he revived and started breathing again. He knew his name and his wife’s name.”

What happened next astounded Houston and the victim’s wife.

“The first question he asked was ‘Did I vote?'”

According to Houston, the man — who had a tracheotomy in his throat — gulped down a few more breaths and then told her there are only two things that are important to me: “That I love you and that I finished what I came here to do … vote.”

Houston said he had planned to skip voting and go to lunch instead. Lucky for the unidentified senior citizen that, according to Houston, “It was God’s divine word that I be there.”

Wonder if the man’s vote was one of the ones that defeated a proposal to create a Michigan Quality Home Care Council and require background screening and a registry for home health care workers?
