Minnesota firm BioDrain Medical, which makes the STREAMWAY fluid disposal system, has raised $275,000 out if the $300,000 it is seeking, according to a recent regulatory filing
The STREAMWAY System automatically collects and records fluid volume in the operating room such as blood, irrigation fluid and other infectious bloods so that operating room personnel can avoid direct contact. The system is aimed at overhauling a manual task that involves operating room workers carrying and emptying fluid cannisters by hand.
The public company, which trades over the counter, believes that using its product will reduce overhead at hospitals, help in better compliance of Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) regulations and improve the operational efficiency of ORs, all of which will make surgeries more profitable.
