If donating to a crowdfunding campaign isn’t your thing, here’s another way you can give to healthcare innovation efforts this holiday season.

Hope Phones will take an old or busted phone off your hands, refurbish or recycle it, and use the value it gets from the phone to purchase new technology that will help provide basic healthcare services in developing countries.

It’s an initiative of the nonprofit Medic Mobile, which equips frontline healthcare workers in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with mobile tools to better coordinate healthcare.

Among the tools it’s developed so far is a mobile data collection platform for community health workers that travel long distances to check up on patients and report back to centrally located doctors. It’s also created messaging and data tools for clinic staff to coordinate community health workers, manage supplies and generate reports.

Hope Phones accepts any mobile phone, working or not, with or without accessories, and will pay for you to ship to them. Get the details here.
