Say Goodbye to Paper Records, Say Hello to Electronic Health Records

Every mom wants to be in control of their household and keep everything running smoothly. I wanted to experience what kind of a day a mom has, and how she can be the ultimate multitasking goddess. So I reached out to Caroline, a close friend of mine and mother of three who calls herself a “modern mom”. My main objective besides learning what her day is like, was to get a good understanding of how she managed her family’s health records.

“Every mom has her own style, even the mom that doesn’t care if she has PB&J in her hair”, said Caroline. “I consider myself a modern mom. I live through my iPhone. I research everything online before I buy. I look for deals, I blog, I read blogs. I keep in shape and I use Pinterest to find new ideas for the kids and cute stuff for myself. I love discovering new apps on my iPhone and most importantly I like to stay organized in the midst of all the daily craziness”.

Our conversation was very interesting. Following her for a day, I was so impressed how she handled everything. A shout out to my mom, now I know what you went through when I was a kid! We talked about everything, I mean everything… (no we didn’t talk about how Caroline and Anthony made babies). From her first child to her third child, she tried to cover it for me.  She is a very tech savvy mom. She has an iPad, an iPhone, and a Fitbit fitness band to keep track of her activities. She was showing me all these different apps which she uses to keep up with her busy day. One of the apps called Cozi stood out the most. The app had everyone’s schedule on the same page, and color coded, so she never missed Michael’s soccer practice or Mandy’s ballet class. It was impressive to see how her day from 5:30am to 9:00pm was mapped out. Somehow she is even able to schedule two yoga classes a week and two tennis lessons a week. “I need to keep up with my health while going through the craziness everyday” she said.

This modern mom had a lot of cool ways to keep her busy day going smoothly. I asked her how she manages her family’s health records? She stuttered…”I think some of the paper records are in a file cabinet somewhere at home and on an Excel spreadsheet, and I am sure the pediatrician has everything I am missing, and I have a card that has the kids’ immunization records on it”.

She had a solution of how to manage her family’s health records, but it wasn’t the most effective solution. Caroline was aware of  my involvement with ChartSpan, but didn’t know much about the actual App. I started to explain to her what ChartSpan can do for her. She was shocked to discover there will be a way for her to convert her entire family’s paper health records into electronic health records. The most exciting part of ChartSpan to her was being able to have access to her kids’ immunization records at her fingertips and being able to instantly send them from her phone. You should have seen the look on her face it was priceless!!

To all you mothers out there, you are Superstars and we know how hard you work to keep the household running smoothly. ChartSpan is going to empower you to manage your family’s healthcare records quickly and conveniently.
