So far this year, we have covered wearable technology, big data and funding in our monthly Google hangouts. Next month we will be broadcasting live from CONVERGE in Philadelphia. You can join the fun even if you can’t be there live and in person.

You don’t have to travel at all to be part of this month’s conversation about genetic testing. We will speak with people working on cancer diagnostics, pharmacogenetic testing and personalized medicine.

Join us at noon on Wednesday, June 25, to listen to the conversation. Send your questions via Twitter to #mcnhangout.
The chief clinical officer of Home Health and Hospice from ViaQuest will be on the panel. Kathy Richard will talk about a new program ViaQuest is using to find the best pain management plan for individual patients.
Marie-Agnes Patrone-Michellod, Ph.D., the marketing and regulatory affairs manager for Cancer Genetics, will be in on the conversation as well to discuss the company’s tests for complex cancers.

Register for the hangout here, or go directly to Google+.

Here are some of the topics we will cover:

  1. What is the most crucial part of patient and provider education about genetic testing?
  2. What is the most misunderstood part of genetic analysis?
  3. What is the connective tissue that the health system needs to get genetic tests into the mainstream? What are the other business opportunities that could help patients understand and use tests like this? Genetic counselors for everyone? Genetic analysis as a health plan benefit?
  4. What are the international opportunities in this space?
  5. How is pharmacogenetics changing patient care?
  6. What is your take on privacy and control of this data?
  7. Where should this data live? Always with the doctor or something the patient will carry with her, like a medical ID bracelet?
