A new journalist has joined the MedCity News team. Her name is Meghana Keshavan and she will write about biotech, pharma, medical device and diagnostic startups, while also looking at other issues in early-stage innovation.

Meghana will dramatically increase the number of life science startups covered on MedCityNews.com. She wants your input about what you’re seeing and what deserves more coverage. So please e-mail her directly at [email protected], follow her on Twitter at @meghanakeshavan and connect with her on LinkedIn.

If you’re at BIO 2014 seek her out – she’s there all week covering the conference.

Meghana is a prototype MedCity journalist. She is fascinated by the entire spectrum of healthcare: from innovations in patient care to new drug development to medical device manufacturing to the intricacies of hospital politics. She has also worked on the flip side of biotechnology. Meghana has a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Penn State University and spent five years as a self-described “research peon in a schizophrenia genetics lab.”

Meghana has spent the last year-and-a-half writing about biotech and healthcare for the San Diego Business Journal. Previously, she’s worked for Reuters, Crain’s Detroit Business, the Detroit Free Press and WDET, a Detroit-based National Public Radio affiliate.

Meghana is based in San Diego and will serve as a point of contact for any healthcare innovators in San Diego who want to connect with MedCity. But her assignment goes beyond that amazing medical city: She wants to write about life science startups nationwide (and beyond).

I’m excited to have Meghana joining the team so we can deliver you more insight about the new innovations in healthcare.
