ATA Fall Forum: How Telemedicine Can Help Reduce Costs, Create Better Outcomes

ATA Fall Forum, the premier forum for healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs in the telemedicine, telehealth and mHealth space, will focus on managing chronic conditions via telemedicine.

This post is sponsored by the American Telemedicine Association.

In its largest meeting to date, the American Telemedicine Association hosted thought leaders in research and innovative technologies as nearly 5,000 telehealth professionals from around the world gathered in Baltimore. Some of the best minds in telemedicine were there – and we’ll pick up the conversation with many of them at ATA Fall Forum, Sept. 6-9, 2014 in Palm Desert, California. The event is the premier forum for healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs in the telemedicine, telehealth and mHealth space.

At Fall Forum, the focus is on managing chronic conditions via telemedicine. Sessions will center on the many ways in which telemedicine can help reduce costs and readmissions, facilitate better outcomes and provide better access for the growing population of patients that continues to drive up the cost of healthcare. It’s an exciting time for telemedicine. Abundant progress can be celebrated and more challenges remain to be faced. As one thought leader put it at the May event in Baltimore, we’re now at the end of the beginning for telemedicine. The nation as a whole is beginning to understand the role of telemedicine in healthcare. The focus is shifting away from the technology (which is way out in front) and is shifting toward the calculation of value provided. On the consumer side of things, it’s all about access, convenience and affordability.

“We’ve hit that convergence point where it begins to make business sense to do it,” said one panelist.

“The trick to unlocking all of this is the financial model. The rest is quite straightforward,” another panelist said.

In case you missed the May event – or if you want to share the experience with your colleagues who couldn’t attend – recordings of ATA 2014 educational sessions and pre-meeting courses from the conference are now available in the ATA Learning Center.

You can get a jump on the topics and conversations you can expect at the upcoming Fall Forum by reviewing the lively sessions from the ATA’s May gathering.
