For a 10-year-old Ohio girl, Jetta Fosberg, being courageous and selfless was what led to being bullied at school. She decided to donate more than 14 inches of her hair to Wigs for Kids in support of children who have lost their hair following cancer treatments.

Heidi Fosberg, Jetta’s mom, told WHIO News in Dayton that other students would tease her daughter about “wanting to be a boy” and saying she was “ugly.” Fosberg even approached the school principal, but she claimed he told her that “he didn’t know of any child that had ever died from words,” and that she and her daughter “needed to toughen up and deal with it.” He probably feels like a real jerk right about now.

Deal with it, she did.

This spunky kid (whose haircut is seriously adorable) and her mom didn’t just stand by and take it, and as a result, they now have a huge wave of support from social media. Jetta’s anti-bullying Facebook page, “Stand with Jetta” today has more than 60,000 likes.
