Anxious poopers: Would it help if it smelled like avocado?

Kohler understands that using the restroom for the inevitable #2 involves a series of uncomfortable scenarios. Not only is it a vulnerable thing for many to do outside of their own home (God forbid you encounter the clogged-overflow situation), but the risk of leaving an unfavorable odor could really leave a bad impression for oncoming facility patrons.

The Wisconsin-based toilet gurus have stepped up to tackle the foul-smelling task with Purefresh — an in-seat deodorizer that runs on D batteries, carbon filters, and scent packs that aren’t exactly like your average air freshener. Candles, potpourri and incense could be a thing of the past (although, it never hurts to have them on hand). But this new technology gets right to the source.

Currently, Kohler is offering three different scents to cover your tracks: garden waterfall, fresh laundry, and avocado spa. The Purefresh technology comes in a $90 toilet seat or as a “complete toileting solution” (the whole bowl-and-tank).

There are plenty of fancy toilets on the market. You could warm your tush, you could have everything operate by remote-control, of you could probably stream your favorite 90s jams while you relieve yourself, but is all of that necessary? This is one of the more reasonable, affordable toilet features. The avocado angle is suspect, but regardless, maybe do yourself and your guests and favor and get on board – or, rather, get on the seat.
