An FDA-cleared surgical prosthesis that treats hernias has attracted some recent capital, ostensibly so the company – called Insightra Medical – can expand its scope abroad.

The Irvine, California-based company just raised $6.1 million, according to a regulatory filing. This is right on the heels of a $6 million financing round, filed in May.

Insightra has been making efforts of late to expand internationally. It has investors from around the globe, including Baird Capital, Tekla Capital Management, Manipal Group, Samos Investments and Vision Sciences.
