Modernizing Medicine, a Florida-based developer of cloud-based electronic medical records, has acquired Aesyntix Health, a privately held revenue cycle management company based in California.

The acquisition for Modernizing Medicine adds several new capabilities to the company, including revenue and inventory management and it includes Aesyntix Physician Netowrk, a medical group purchasing organization.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The new services will help augment the company’s existing Electronic Medical Assistant, an EMR designed specifically for specialists. It will help create a “more efficient, streamlined billing process at the point of care” that can help reduce denials while monitoring and maximizing reimbursements, according to Daniel Cane, CEO and co-founder of Modernizing Medicine.

Nearly 5,000 physicians currently use the company’s Electronic Medical Assistant, Cane said.

Earlier this year, Modernizing Medicine raised $20 million in a Series D round to help it expand its cloud-based and telemedicine. Investors include Summit Partners and Pentland Group, many of whom are medical specialists.
