Back in 2012, recreational marijuana became available for purchase in Colorado, and more than just the political angle of the subject, the legalization has had an additional impact.

This week, Colorado awarded nearly a million dollars in grants to schools in the state. The plan is for that money to be used to hire school nurses, counselors and psychologists.

This money comes straight from marijuana tax revenue.

The more than $975,000 of grants handed out this week is part of a larger fund of $2.5 million created by the state legislature for schools to hire health professionals, according to The Denver Post.

The state appears to be using the pot tax revenue in positive ways to help the public. In August, it was reported that $1 million of the revenue is being used for school construction projects.
