Vivek Murthy and Elmo have teamed up to promote vaccinations

Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and Sesame Street are trying to promote the value of vaccines as measles continues to be a problem perpetuated by anti-vaxxers.

There’s been a lot of criticism directed at parents who blatantly overlook the risks that come along with not vaccinating their children and how that puts others at risk – specifically infants too young to be vaccinated.

Misinformation from a particular faulty study and celebrities (ahem, Jenny McCarthy) has revived the spread and risk of measles, which was previously eradicated. So if we need another celebrity to go the opposite way, who better than Sesame Street‘s Elmo. Might as well throw in Surgeon General Vivek Murthy for his first major public health initiative.

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Sesame Street, and The Daily Dot teamed up to create this short video that should especially appeal to and inform parents with little ones. Murthy and Elmo break down why vaccinations are important in a way that even a little kid could understand.
