Alere Analytics rolled into new precision-medicine firm Persivia

Husband-and-wife entrepreneur team Mansoor Khan and Dr. Fauzia Khan are rolling their established Alere Analytics, maker of technology for clinical decision support and chronic disease management, into their newly launched precision-medicine firm Persivia.

Husband-and-wife entrepreneur team Mansoor Khan and Dr. Fauzia Khan are buying back Alere Analytics, maker of technology for clinical decision support and chronic disease management, through their newly launched precision-medicine firm Persivia.

The move pulls Alere Analytics away from publicly traded parent company Alere Inc. It perhaps also makes Persivia a competitor to Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong’s NantHealth.

Persivia, based in Lowell, Mass., launched May 15, ostensibly to marry precision medicine, including genomics and proteomics, with analytics.

“Our population health and chronic care management solutions are designed to help ACOs and providers address financial and utilization performance, risk stratification and identify and close care gaps. By embracing precision medicine, we can approach the healthcare industry from a universal view of clinical, financial, behavior, genomic and social data that will allow us to provide the most positive outcomes for our customers and their patient populations,” CEO Mansoor Khan said at the time.

The Alere Analytics transaction, which Persevia called an acquisition, brings into the mix an established analytics platform for population health.

“Providers are at risk for a growing number of penalties from Hospital-acquired Infections (HAIs), medication management and re-admissions to managing chronically ill patients and all quality measures associated with those activities,” Mansoor Khan said. “With the acquisition of Alere Analytics, from Alere Inc., Persivia is well positioned to help our customers meet these challenges head on.”
