Craig Hankins
Vice President of Consumer Engagement Products, UnitedHealthcare

Craig Hankins is vice president of consumer engagement products at UnitedHealthcare. In this role, Hankins oversees the strategy and delivery of mobile solutions that help consumers more easily navigate the health system and improve their well-being. His responsibilities include developing innovative mobile technologies that serve an array of health care stakeholders, including consumers, health care providers and employers. He brings to his current role more than 15 years of experience in management and business consulting. He holds an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College in Minnesota.

David Newman, Ph.D., J.D.
Executive Director, Health Care Cost Institute

Prior to joining HCCI, Dr. Newman was a Specialist in Health Care Financing at the Congressional Research Service and previously served as a consultant to the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Army and Navy, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Health Resources and Services Administration and the US Agency for International Development.

Dr. Newman possesses a PhD in political science from the University of Rochester, a JD from the University of New Hampshire Law School and has held academic appointments at Georgetown University, the National University of Singapore and Lingnan University in Hong Kong.

Francois de Brantes
Executive Director, Health Care Incentives Improvement Institute

François de Brantes is the Executive Director for the Health Care Incentives Improvement Institute, which is a not-for-profit company that designs and implements innovative payment and benefit plan design programs to motivate physicians, hospitals and consumer-patients to improve the quality and affordability of care. Previously, de Brantes was the Program Leader for various healthcare initiatives at GE Corporate Health Care Programs, responsible for developing the conceptual framework and the implementation of GE’s Active Consumer strategy. De Brantes attended the University of Paris IX – Dauphine where he earned a MS in Economics and Finance, and he attended the Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, where he graduated with an MBA.

Published in peer-reviewed journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and Health Affairs, de Brantes is also frequently quoted in national media including The New York Times. He has published two books, the latest being The Incentive Cure: The Real Relief For Health Care.
