Last week, we brought you the news of the opening of what’s being touted as the world’s first virtual care center in Chesterfield, Mo., the work of Mercy Virtual, the telehealth division of Mercy Health System.

Mercy has continued its media blitz ahead of the planned June opening. This week, Dr. Tom Hale, Mercy Virtual’s executive medical director, whom we spoke to at the American Telemedicine Association conference in Los Angeles, was in KWMU-St. Louis Public Radio’s studio for an in-depth, hour-long report (48 minutes after subtracting the commercial breaks) on telemedicine.

During the show, “St. Louis on the Air” host Don Marsh also spoke by telephone with a representative from UnitedHealthcare, telehealth entrepreneur Dr. Jay Parkinson, as well as a patient and a telepsychiatry practitioner.
