Healthtour sets out to find the best healthcare abroad

Healthtour.com aims at finding the best healthcare services for users when they travel abroad through bundled care, fair prices and local support.

A major problem some people encounter when they travel to a different country for business or vacation is finding reliable healthcare abroad. Recognizing that problem, medical tourism startup Healthtour set out on a mission with their motto of “affordable healing abroad” to make receiving necessary care easier, no matter where in the world users may be.

StartUp Health recently added the business to its portfolio companies

In an interview with MedCity News, co-founder Kürsat Özel explained that Healthtour users can get information about clinics, treatments and care costs. They can also compare hospitals and clinics from different locations, similar to Germany-based company Medigo. Healthtour also provides transportation and accommodation for health related tours.

“The main purpose of our company is to use the power of technology in order to make contributions to the most important thing we have: health,” Özel said. “So, as an experienced team we started to work on healthcare. Our aim is to transform the healthcare industry.”

So how exactly does Healthtour work? If a patient needs instant treatment, but can’t seem to find a place where they can receive immediate care, Healthtour finds it for them. Same thing goes for prices. Since everyone cannot afford the same treatments, Healthtour.com works to find affordable alternatives for people who need it.

Özel noted that, “Healthtour’s most important three characteristics are bundled services, clear prices and support at the location.”

Healthtour’s services find reliable care for users and are completely free. Medical centers, wellness centers and other service providers pay a service fee to be recognized by Healthtour. The company is not responsible for fees charged to the patient by the health centers.

The company’s website lists some of the most “popular” procedures its users choose. Predictably plastic surgery dominates with liposuction, hip replacement and rhinoplasty on offer, accompanied by a price tag. I’m not a massage connoisseur, but $750 seems a bit pricey

Even though some investors have been attracted to Healthtour’s concept, Özel said the company is trying to focus on its product, services and patient satisfaction before boosting it. As of now, it is self-funded.

Healthtour is currently available to everyone and helps an average of 10 patients from several countries find the best healthcare options each day. The company is still forming new research and development teams to provide customized healthcare service bundles for people, setting them a part from their competition.
