Amy Schumer provides a Life Alert parody with a service that we could all probably use

Sometimes you just need somebody to talk to. What if there was a wearable button for that?

Those of us who occasionally watch too many television networks with particular advertisements geared toward an older or indoors-y demographic, like Lifetime, or TLC, we’ve been aware of the potential benefits a product like Life Alert could offer the aging population in the event of a fall or unexpected urgent medical situation.

We also know that the casting and dialogue for such advertisements could benefit from some significant tweaking for a more realistic portrayal – and for that reason, parody sketches are inevitable.

Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer on Tuesday provided a spoof of a similarly named product. Listen Alert provides a service that might not be as urgent but could be useful in our everyday lives. Not everyone is ready and willing to really listen about your issues and “unrealistic” or “whiny” complaints. In fact most probably wish you’d just keep it to yourself or they’d fake an emergency incoming phone call. That’s where Listen Alert comes in.

And, as the sketch points out, this is not just a service for women. (Schumer is more than happy to slap sexist stereotypes.)

Perhaps some potential inspiration for startups to hear feedback from advisers, providers, their patients, insurance companies and doctors?
