2 new reality TV shows highlighting healthcare professionals in Boston are set to debut on ABC

Boston is getting some significant airtime with two new healthcare-focused reality TV series.

Reality TV shows Save My Life: Boston Trauma and Boston EMS are both set to air in July on ABC to give viewers a look at life inside the ER, OR and within first response units in a city known for its numerous reputable hospitals.

The one-hour show, Save My Life: Boston Trauma, a six-part series, will display what’s generally kept behind closed doors at Boston Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

As boston.com described it, the program will be “a stress-inducing trip into the high-stakes work of the men and women who have Bostonians’ lives in their hands.”

The series is set to premiere July 19 at 10 p.m. EDT.

In a similar fashion, Boston EMS will show what it’s like to be first responders in Boston Emergency Services as they rush to help people in the city.

“Even for an experienced team like ours, we were stunned by some of the heart-pounding medical miracles we saw performed,” series executive producer Terence Wrong said in a statement, as boston.com reported. “With half a dozen famous hospitals, Boston is a city of medical excellence like no other.”

This one-hour, five-part series, premieres on ABC July 25 at 9 p.m.

They actually both look pretty compelling. But it’s surprising to see the network choose two such similarly themed shows. We’ll see which one does better with ratings.
