Patient Engagement

This week on MedHeads: It’s all about patient engagement

On this week’s MedHeads, get filled in on what U.S. CTO Susannah Fox and Neal Sofian had to say about patient engagement and more from MedCity’s ENGAGE conference.

Much of the MedCity editorial team has had one thing on our minds this week and that’s our patient engagement conference.

In just two days we learned a lot. We learned what’s important to patients, how closely UnitedHealthcare pays attention to reviews of its consumer app (very), and how pharmaceutical companies are using ethnographers to fully research the patient’s experience of their condition.

In a conversation about app development Neal Sofian vice president of engagement at Premira Blue Cross spinoff Vivacity, a wellness  spoke frankly that most of us don’t really think of our health until we’re actually sick. What they care about are things like how they slept, but so many mobile health apps and programs don’t take that into consideration.
