Top 6 healthcare segments from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, as we sadly bid farewell

Jon Stewart is officially wrapping up his glorious stretch with The Daily Show, and for that reason, we take a look back at a few of the many times the show touched on healthcare.

It was hard enough when we lost The Colbert Report, but at least we knew Stephen Colbert would grace us with his presence again when he takes over for David Letterman with The Late Show.

But now, the time has come, and we’re losing Jon Stewart.

The Daily Show has redefined what news commentary and entertainment looks like on television, and the mastermind behind the operation will be missed greatly by his huge and loyal fan base (which wholeheartedly includes yours truly).

Tonight is Stewart’s last episode as host of The Daily Show, and for that reason, we’re providing six of the best recent healthcare-related segments that the show has aired.

1. Here’s when Stewart tore apart the Department of Veterans Affairs for its issues with providing adequate care for veterans – even after the launch of the $10 billion choice card program.

2. It’s the worst allergy season ever…always.

A Deep-dive Into Specialty Pharma

A specialty drug is a class of prescription medications used to treat complex, chronic or rare medical conditions. Although this classification was originally intended to define the treatment of rare, also termed “orphan” diseases, affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the US, more recently, specialty drugs have emerged as the cornerstone of treatment for chronic and complex diseases such as cancer, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS.

3. Stewart had no problem poking fun at Congress for celebrating the oh-so-special bipartisan Doc Fix bill passing.

4. When The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics promoted the “Eat Right” label and endorsed products like Kraft Singles, of course Stewart was there to tear it apart.

5. This hilarious segment took a look at the pros and cons of why gun safety is considered a no-no when it comes to conversations about health, which came after Florida governor Rick Scott’s legislation that prohibits doctors from asking patients if they own guns.

6. The Daily Show went for it when it came to highlighting the issue with anti-vaxxers as discussion really heated up earlier this year.

We’ll miss you, Jon. A lot.
