#jpm16 Day 2 Buzz: But it’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year!?

EVERYONE SAID THE FUN WOULD NEVER END!!!!

biotech stocks #JPM16

Well, that’s depressing.

I’ve seen multiple references online to “bloodbath.” The 190-member Nasdaq Biotechnology Index fell 3.4 percent on Day 1 of JP Morgan, the worst opening day of trading during the conference since 2001. Everything from tiny biotechs to large drugmakers were down.

A total aside, but was a Bloomberg anchor really unaware there is a such a thing as gene editing (1:50 in the video above)?

Just to drive home the point.

A Deep-dive Into Specialty Pharma

A specialty drug is a class of prescription medications used to treat complex, chronic or rare medical conditions. Although this classification was originally intended to define the treatment of rare, also termed “orphan” diseases, affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the US, more recently, specialty drugs have emerged as the cornerstone of treatment for chronic and complex diseases such as cancer, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS.
