Several retail pharmacy chains have added retail clinics as they seek to provide easier access to primary care services from vaccines to chronic condition management to mental health screening. But in a twist they are likely to welcome as much as clinicians and other healthcare facilities, technology company RxWiki has launched a service to provide a way for retail pharmacy patients to review these facilities and offer a perspective on the quality of the patient experience at these venues, according to a company news release.

RxWiki’s move follows the company’s decision to hire former Travelzoo CEO Chris Loughlin as its CEO in February and reflects the push by some healthcare companies to adopt practices from the hospitality industry.

Patients can rate their pharmacy after they submit a prescription refill online or through a mobile app powered by RxWiki. The company distinguishes its service from websites such as Google and Yelp by noting that only patients of the pharmacy can access it.

Patients review the pharmacy based on criteria such as trustworthiness, friendliness, speed and efficiency, and value for money and are encouraged to leave comments. Pharmacies operating on RxWiki’s Digital Pharmacist platform can gain access to their reviews through the RxWiki Dashboard, the news release said.

Although RxWiki claimed in the press release that 95 percent of patients gave positive reviews of pharmacies based on speed, efficiency, friendliness, trustworthiness and value for money criteria, the company declined to note how many different pharmacies that included. More than 2,000 reviews have been completed to date, the company said.
