MedCity INVEST and Alice’s adventures in wonderland

We are headed into a topsy-turvy world, but to make sense of it all, attend MedCity’s INVEST, where a motley cast of VCs, health system executives, startups and payers will rock the world healthcare (call her Alice).

Mad Hatters Tea Party

We are in a topsy-turvy world.

Whether you blame or credit President-elect Donald Trump for that depends on your politics but there’s no denying that with his election, the healthcare industry (call her Alice) has plunged headfirst into the rabbit hole entering a world where the old rules do not apply.

And Alice was already in the midst of a personality-altering shift from volume-based care to value-based care. And now, while experts on Alice believe that there’s no going back to a fee-for-service world  — It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then — Trump’s nominee for the Department of Health and Human Services, is an orthopedic surgeon who is reportedly no fan of bundled payments.

Which brings us to MedCity INVEST, our annual investing conference, that draws the best and the brightest in the investment and startup worlds to the Four Seasons in Chicago. Next year it’s on May 17-18, so mark your calendars.

No matter what incarnation Alice will take in 2017 and beyond, it has to contend with a motley cast of characters with their specific agendas – the VCs, the payers, health systems, and the entrepreneur (the Cheshire Cat?) ready to disrupt her world.

And all of the above will be out in full force at MedCity INVEST to discuss curious and curiouser puzzles like “Removing the barrier to Precision Medicine,” “Unlocking the Value of Digital Health” and “Beyond the Pill and Product, Whither Now,” to name a few agenda items.

Here’s our advisory board:

We believe the agenda (already up), the speakers (soon to be revealed), and the Pitch Perfect startup contest (accepting applications now) will dazzle and scintillate. But just in case you disagree, in the post-conference survey, you are welcome to retort, “Off with their heads.”
