Welcome to the live broadcast of the MedCity News medical cornhole tournament. The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time today and the games should begin around 5 p.m.As many as 50 teams are in the tournament, located in Gateway Plaza between Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena.

If they’re involved in healthcare in Ohio, they’re playing cornhole today from Cleveland Clinic Innovations to Cleveland Medical Mart and Convention Center and many more startups, investors, hospitals and organizations that care about healthcare (and cornhole). Participants and their cheering sections start gathering at 4 p.m. at Gateway Plaza between Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena. The tournament kicks off at 5 p.m.

Fifty teams from Ohio’s medical industry — with more possibly on the way — will take their talents to Gateway Plaza for this year’s MedCity News Medical Cornhole Tournament at 4 p.m. Thursday. Downtown Cleveland Alliance, Cleveland Medical Mart and Convention Center, Fleishman Hillard, Perspectus Architecture, thunder::tech and Studiothink have graciously sponsored the event.

Peter O’Neill was one half of the Cleveland Clinic Innovations team that won the 2009 MedCity News Medical Cornhole Tournament. Two other teams tried to poach O’Neill this year. But he’s returning to the Innovations team with a secret weapon to cut through the 50 teams participating in this year’s MedCity News Medical Cornhole Tournament on Thursday.

Downtown Cleveland has seen some intense athletic contests waged over the years: baseball, basketball, football and now… cornhole.Say what you will about this humble, much-loved beanbag toss game, but there’s no denying that it brings people together. That’s one of the goals of the Second Annual MedCity News Medical Cornhole Tournament, which will be held on Thursday, Aug. 19 at Gateway Plaza in Cleveland between Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena.

It’s time for the Second Annual MedCity News Medical Cornhole Tournament. Cornhole, known as beanbag toss outside of Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky, is almost a national backyard pastime for residents in Ohio — including the local medical industry. This year’s cornhole tournament and picnic starts at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19 at Gateway Plaza in Cleveland between Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena. You’ll get a little time to size up the competition before the games begin at 5 p.m.

Thanks to the more than 100 people who came to take part in the First Annual MedCity Cornhole Tournament. In a final we couldn’t have scripted, the Cleveland Clinic Innovations team defeated the University Hospitals duo in a competitive and friendly final match.
