Every week, MedCity News highlights the best of its MedCitizens: syndication partners and MedCity News readers who discuss life science current events on MedCitynews.com.

Now here’s the best of what YOU had to say:

Medicaid, Medicare cuts a ‘yawn’ in looming U.S. debt ceiling vote. “I hope we can get through this debt ceiling crisis relatively unscathed and then move on to a real debate about health care cost control before Medicare swallows us up.”

Medical device review times slow, but companies share blame, FDA says. “Total review times for 510(k) submissions have increased by more than 55 percent since 2005 because of poor quality submissions by medical device manufacturers, the FDA said.”

Hospitals expand for future patients… who may not be able to afford care. “Like squirrels hoarding their nuts for the winter in a panic before the icy winds of winter descend, big hospital systems are building, building, building.”

Electronic health records software poses security concerns. “There’s been a steady rush of new studies on a topic that hits home to healthcare consumers – and should hit home to healthcare entrepreneurs. The topic is electronic health records and the data shows that consumers are clearly worried about the safety and security of those records.”
