INVEST 2021 Pitch Perfect contest now open to receive startup applications

All startups are invited to apply for our annual INVEST Pitch Perfect Contest that will take place virtually as part of our annual INVEST conference in April next year.

As we gear up to put this difficult but memorable year behind us, it’s also time to think about our annual INVEST conference, which we will host virtually in early 2021. We aim to feature the most interesting startups across healthcare’s diverse sectors. So, get ready to apply to INVEST Pitch Perfect if you belong to any one of the following healthcare verticals – biopharma, medical devices, diagnostics, health IT or health services.

Here is the application form. The deadline to apply is 5 ET, Friday, January 15.

To be eligible to participate, you need to fulfill any one of the following criteria

  • Raised at least $1 million;
  • Raised a Series A round;
  • Have at least one qualified institutional investor or strategic investor that you can identify

Companies should also be looking for additional funding in the next 12 months.  When completing the 2-page executive summary, please describe clearly the unmet need in the marketplace your company seeks to address, what your value proposition is and how your product works in terms of the science behind it. If you have results of a pilot or other examples of clinical validation, please include it. We are also interested in your go-to-market strategy.

This will help investors screen your application based on the following criteria:

A Deep-dive Into Specialty Pharma

A specialty drug is a class of prescription medications used to treat complex, chronic or rare medical conditions. Although this classification was originally intended to define the treatment of rare, also termed “orphan” diseases, affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the US, more recently, specialty drugs have emerged as the cornerstone of treatment for chronic and complex diseases such as cancer, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS.

  • Business Idea
  • Market Opportunity
  • Revenue Model
  • Founder’s Experience

Each category will lead to the selection of five to six startups who will be judged by a group of leading healthcare investors, both traditional and corporate VCs. Good luck as you fill out the application form. Again, the deadline to apply is 5 ET, Friday, January 15.
