Which health IT startups will present at INVEST Pitch Perfect? (Updated)

Companies focusing on cancer care, high-risk patients, patient safety, tele-dermatology, mental health and medical billing are among the six finalists.

The finalists from the Health IT track of the MedCity INVEST Pitch Perfect contest have been selected. The six finalists focus on a variety of technologies addressing cancer care, high-risk patients, patient safety, tele-dermatology, mental health and medical billing.

The INVEST Pitch Perfect contest is part of our INVEST conference April 19-23, which will be hosted online due to Covid-19. It includes five tracks for startups: biopharma, medical devices, diagnostics, health IT and health services.

Finalists fulfill one of the following criteria:

  • Raised at least $1 million; 
  • Raised a Series A round; 
  • Have at least one qualified institutional investor or strategic investor

Judges for the track include:

Here are summaries of the six finalists, who will present their companies with a Q&A with judges at 4pm ET on Monday April 19:

Presenters: Monica Schmiede and Jessica Thurmond, Co-founders

AthenaX is a digital health platform designed to provide integrated cancer care to underserved patients. By providing rich, real-world data to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to increase patient engagement and decrease costs for clinical trials, our cognitive behavioral therapy approach will enable us to care for the whole patient. AthenaX will not only provide virtual supportive cancer care but also create personalized recommendations and serve each patient as their own digital health advocate, particularly for disadvantaged patients with lower socio-economic status, geographical location or lack of equity across racial disparities in healthcare.

Care.coach’s  digital avatars coach complex, high risk patients (typically elderly) – 5% of the US population who account for 50% of all healthcare costs — to take better care of themselves and to reduce cost of care for our health insurer customers. Its human-in-the-loop design allows us to surpass the limitations of AI, while training machine learning models to automate and scale human touch in ways that other companies do not have the data for.
