A flash mob affiliated with Ohio State University’s James Cancer Hospital began dancing in the streets in Columbus Saturday morning to raise awareness for breast cancer.

The 200-member mob featured physicians, researchers, nurses, staff, Ohio State University students and cancer survivors who danced to Whoopi Goldberg’s cover of “Dancing in the Streets”  prior to the start of the Komen Race for the Cure, which raises money for breast cancer research. (The mob began practicing in mid-April, and one shudders to think about how many times they had to endure hearing Whoopi Goldberg’s musical artistry over the course of a month.)

“We wanted to do something fun to raise awareness about the need to fund breast cancer research to get us closer to a cure, and ultimately to creating a cancer-free world,” said Dr. Michael Caligiuri, CEO of the James Cancer Hospital.
