Minnesota Health IT firm BioMedix names new medical director

BioMedix, a health IT firm based in St. Paul, Minnesota, named John Martin as medical director.

BioMedix sells an integrated suite of hardware, software and online services that can detect peripheral arterial disease and chronic venous insufficiency cost-effectively.

A company news release stated that Martin is “one of the only board certified vascular surgeons in the nation who is also the CEO of a major cardiology practice.”

“BioMedix continues to make a difference with its innovative products– BioMedix technology offers a platform for providers to collaborate to find and treat more patients with vascular disease,” Martin said in a statement. “I am excited to join an organization that has long been dedicated to promoting early detection and prevention of cardiovascular events.”

Martin joined Anne Arundel Medical Center in 1999. He has also developed training, education and multiple research initiatives for AAMC, as well as a dedicated vascular patient unit. In 2000, he co-founded the Dare to C.A.R.E. Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to informing the community about the threat and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The group has provided free cardiovascular screenings to more than 30,000 individuals to date.
