Clinical research organization ClinicalRM has won two contracts that will involve conducting medical research for the Navy.
The contracts call for research into a wide variety of areas, including bacterial and viral infections, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder and behavioral health, said Laurie Gipp, ClinicalRM’s vice president of business development.
“We’ve been working with the Army and [National Institutes of Health] for nearly 20 years,” Gipp said. “This is our first award with the Navy, and being able to assist a new branch is something that we’re really looking forward to.”
The contracts are valued at $497 million, but will be shared among several companies, according to a statement from Hinckley, Ohio-based ClinicalRM.
In June, the company signed a five-year, $97 million contract with the U.S. Army to support development of drugs, vaccines and therapies for diseases “of strategic interest” to the military.
The “vast majority” of the company’s business is with government agencies, but it also works with academic centers and private companies, Gipp said. ClinicalRM has about 350 employees.
