MIM Software recently obtained regulatory clearance for version 3.0 of its Mobile MIM medical imaging mobile app for radiologists.

After the latest 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Mobile MIM 3.0 is now cleared for diagnostic X-ray and ultrasound viewing, as well as radiation oncology treatment plan review and approval.

For MIM, the most important aspect of the new clearances is X-rays — the most common type of imaging application. “X-rays are the bread and butter of medical imaging,” said Mark Cain, Cleveland-area MIM’s chief technology officer.

In February, an earlier version of Mobile MIM became the first-ever radiology mobile app to receive the FDA’s seal of approval. The app was cleared earlier this year for four other types of medical imaging: CT, PET, MRI and SPECT.

The app — which is designed for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch — is available for free download in Apple’s App Store.

In the video below, Cain walks through some of Mobile MIM’s new features.
