MedCity CONVERGE is bookended by two amazing keynote speakers: one is dedicated to driving innovation in healthcare IT at the federal level while the other has crafted a special system to foster innovation among the researchers, doctors and staff in her hospital.

Wil Yu, the director of innovations in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT in Health and Human Services, leads off MedCity CONVERGE by outlining a vision of the data-driven opportunity in healthcare and innovators who are embracing this historic opportunity to help reinvent the system and improve health.

Then, Naomi Fried, chief innovation officer at Boston Children’s Hospital, will conclude the one-day executive summit with a keynote address titled “Innovating Innovation,” where she outlines her approach to building an innovation program within healthcare organizations.

Join the conversation on healthcare innovation by attending MedCity CONVERGE on Tuesday at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia. Get your tickets today.

Yu and Fried are at the top of a lineup of speakers from every sector of healthcare — from Medtronic and Pfizer to Penn Medicine and UnitedHealth Group to an array of startup companies — who combined will deliver the most accurate overview of healthcare innovation anywhere in the country.

Yu created the “Investing in Innovations” program known as “i2,” which encourages early stage innovations and community building. But he’s also funding research projects in areas like mobile health, predictive analytics, gaming in healthcare and clinical/business intelligence while exploring innovative payment models in healthcare.

Fried, meanwhile, has spent her career examining how innovation works in healthcare and has built her own analysis called “an innovation life cycle” — she refers to it as “six steps and a gap.” She worked as the vice president of innovation and advanced technology at Kaiser Permanente and has advised two venture capital firms on life science and healthcare information technology investments.
