Healthbox Boston, which kicked off with its first class last fall, is back with a second set of digital health startups that it will usher through its 16-week accelerator program.

Along with lead partner BlueCross BlueShield of Massachusetts, Healthbox and its mentors, and other partners will work with the startups to help them understand the healthcare industry and build a sustainable business, which will culminate in a Demo Day sometime this summer.

Here are the companies:

Epion Health: Patients spend an average of more than 20 minutes in a physician’s waiting room, so why not make the most of it? Epion created a cloud-based tablet solution that digitizes the paper-based intake and discharge processes, from patient check-in to payment collection to patient education and more. Stephanie Baum wrote about this company more in-depth last year.

Sensing Strip: This company has developed an “electronic sensing tape” to be place anywhere on a patient’s body to capture and wirelessly transmit real-time data to a smartphone or tablet.

Hospitalytics: The goal of this health IT company is to enable OR managers with analytical software to predict booking trends and delegate surgery appointments and staffing accordingly, and improve overall ER efficiency.

Cellanyx: Based on the doctoral thesis work of Ashok Chander, a Columbia University grad, this company is working on a biomarker-based diagnostic urine test that would help doctors predict the aggressiveness and metastatic potential of prostate tumors. I wrote a profile on this company back in January.

Caring in Place: This mobile app was designed to help family caregivers coordinate the care of a loved one.

LeanWagon: An online health coaching program offered through employers.
