Trick or treatment? Jay Leno’s got the best Obamacare jokes this week

Late night TV shows have been slamming Obamacare for the last month, but Jay Leno really handed it to the administration on The Tonight Show this week. And he wasn’t just focused on HealthCare.gov glitches either. He dubs over an Obama clip from three years ago, changing “can” to “cannot.” (Watch the clip above, fast forward about 3 minutes in.)

“This is really a time for self-examination for all Americans. We have to learn to examine ourselves, you know why? Because it doesn’t look like we’re going to get any decent healthcare, okay? . . . ”

“Despite the fact that President Obama has been saying that no one would lose their healthcare plan, now the White House has admitted that in fact many, many people will lose their plan. But there is a way you can keep the coverage you have. Become a member of Congress. Then, the taxpayers will pay for the whole thing. Fantastic!”

“Obamacare will cover all (Kathleen Sebelius’) injuries after the White House throws her under the bus. So she is fully covered.”

And how slow is the website?

“By the time you sign up for Obamacare, you’re eligible for Medicare.”

On Wednesday, he took Republicans and Democrats to task for their handling of the Obamacare rollout, calling upon the weird Wizard of Oz  references made during the Sebelius hearing:

presented by

“The Republicans have no heart, the Democrats have no courage, and the people who run the Obamacare website have no brains!”

But, of course, Obama got the brunt of it.

“You know where it’s really trick or treat time is at the White House. President Obama tricked us into thinking we’d be able to afford treatment. . . . Trick or treatment!”

The most painful zinger:

“What is it about selling insurance that makes people liars? Your brother-in-law trying to sell it to you or the President of the United States — they’re all just liars when it comes to insurance.”
