Road maps for patient engagement, nifty life sciences maps. And now, periodic tables.

After putting out “The Periodic Table of Tech,” venture capital database CB Insights said it received numerous requests for a similar guideline applied to the complicated world of the life sciences and healthcare ecosystem.

Alas, today the Periodic Table of Healthcare is here (go here for an expanded version).

The goal behind the table, CB Insights says, is to provide a resource “to understand the key players in the universe of healthcare investors and acquirers.”

Using its own research and data, CB Insights details the many VC and investment firms relevant to the field of healthcare, which in this case includes pharma, biotech, medical device, drug discovery and development.

It does not, however, include health IT or digital health. Hopefully that one is coming next?

The table contains 105 firms and major companies within the space; it will be updated as new entrants emerge and as others falter. The firms selected were based on historical exits, network strength, reputation/brand and deal activity, broken down into seven categories:
— Venture capital firms
— Corporate investors
— Growth/late-stage firms
— Micro VC firms
— Angel investment groups
— Accelerators/venture studios/holding companies
— Healthcare acquirers
