It’s World AIDS Day, and the app world, more notably Apple, is doing its part to contribute to the cause.
Apple will be donating a portion of the proceeds from every iPad, iPod, iPhone, MacBook and more to the Global Fund this entire week (until Dec. 7).
A lot of extremely popular apps have gotten on board by going (RED). The Human Body, Angry Birds, Toca Town and Threes are all going in on the effort by changing the interface to demonstrate the associated color.
The Funding Model for Cancer Innovation is Broken — We Can Fix It
Closing cancer health equity gaps require medical breakthroughs made possible by new funding approaches.
Though switching apps to red is a huge acknowledgement, the results are much greater. When you buy one of the participating apps or grab an in-app purchase, 100% of the proceeds will go to the Global Fund.
Julie Marsh, from Cool Mom Tech, shared her thoughts:
Another thing I love is that a lot of the participating apps are ones that our kids (and I) already dig, like Monument Valley, Minion Rush, the wonderfully educational StarWalk 2 app and even Cut the Rope 2. So when my own kids asked about the color change, it was a great opportunity to talk with them about World AIDS Day and how many people around the world are being helped by (RED).
Today is a day when people can play, have fun, and support a great cause all at the same time. If you’ve been behind the trends with downloading new apps, now’s a good time to jump in and get involved.
