I have fantastic news. MedCity Media, which publishes MedCityNews.com, has been acquired by Breaking Media, a best-in-class digital publisher based in New York.

This is a big moment for MedCity – but also for the medical industry.

I launched MedCity because healthcare had changed and ascended. It had gone from a series of siloed sectors to an ecosystem of innovation that would rely on collaboration and new thinking to thrive. Those innovators needed new insights and a way to unite.

MedCityNews.com and our events provide a place where next-generation leaders from all sectors can get actionable intelligence and connect with all of healthcare’s business leaders.

Our acquisition by Breaking Media, which publishes go-to sites on topics from law to high finance, is a validation that healthcare has become an even greater force for innovation, for economic growth and in American culture. It’s a validation of all your efforts to change healthcare for the better.

Joining Breaking Media means MedCity will touch an even broader array of alpha influencers and share news on medical breakthroughs and approaches to healthcare innovation. MedCity’s content will flow into Breaking Media’s other properties, which gather leaders and big employers in areas such as high finance, government, defense, law, energy and beyond.

What’s more, Breaking Media will use its current resources and invest further in MedCity. That will allow us to continue to improve upon our high-quality events; unique and independent journalism; research; and other features and services you’ve come to rely on MedCity to provide.

A Deep-dive Into Specialty Pharma

A specialty drug is a class of prescription medications used to treat complex, chronic or rare medical conditions. Although this classification was originally intended to define the treatment of rare, also termed “orphan” diseases, affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the US, more recently, specialty drugs have emerged as the cornerstone of treatment for chronic and complex diseases such as cancer, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS.

This is a great moment for me personally, for MedCity and for healthcare. Thank you for helping us get here. It would not have been possible without your loyalty and support. I am excited to continue to lead MedCity under Breaking Media and continue to expand on what we do.
