Epic’s Judy Faulkner and athenahealth’s Jonathan Bush ham (or pie) it up at HIStalkapalooza

Epic Systems CEO Judy Faulkner and athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush share beers and pies at HIStalkapalooza. Well, sort of.

Monday night at HIMSS is an evening for fun, thanks to the many corporate-sponsored parties. HIStalkapalooza, run by the HIStalk blog, a.k.a. the National Enquirer of Health IT, has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years, and might be the biggest now. It’s certainly the most fun, or at least the one where the biggest names in health IT make fun of each other.

Tonight, during the annual HISsie Awards, Epic Systems CEO Judy Faulkner and athenahealth CEO Jonathan Bush – you know, two companies who got a little frisky with each other on social media and in the halls of Congress recently – took the stage at the House of Blues in Chicago to present each other with honors. Well, actually, both honors seemed to go to Bush: the health IT personality people would most want to share a beer with and the one others would most want to hit in the face with pie. (We didn’t feel like taking notes.)

Faulkner gave Bush a beer, and he drank it. Then, someone brought out a pie and gave it to Faulkner.

Faulkner, probably in the name of camaraderie, didn’t want to throw it herself, so she handed it off to a volunteer from the audience. Hilarity ensued.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled HIMSS coverage. Wait, not yet. Here’s one more.

NOTE: We’ve been getting some flak from HIStalk about the “National Enquirer” line. It was meant as an honor, as they dig up dirt on everybody, and usually get it right (See “Men In Black.”) We love HIStalk, and we love HIStalkapalooza.
