How threatening are cyber-security breaches currently when it comes to medical devices and the IoT?

This infographic illustrates the risks involved, spells out the major areas of concern and shows where medical device companies and providers can step up to prevent more breach scares moving forward.

In 2015, the threat of data breaches in healthcare became oh so real.

As Forbes broke down at the end of the year:

According to OCR [Office of Civil Rights], there were 253 healthcare breaches that affected 500 individuals or more with a combined loss of over 112 million records.

The top 10 data breaches alone accounted for just over 111 million records that were lost, stolen or inappropriately disclosed.

The top six breaches affected at least 1 million individuals–and four of the six were Blue Cross Blue Shield organizations.

A particular area of concern is the connection between medical devices and the Internet of Things.

Content Marketing and SEO specializing company, Builtvisible, researched and gathered data to provide this infographic that illustrates the risks involved, spells out the major areas of concern and shows where medical device companies and providers can step up to prevent more breach scares.

Fingers crossed that things improve in 2016.
