Talkspace announces initiative to provide some free therapy for low-income people (Update)

Talkspace announced it has now launched a new initiative called "Therapy for All" that will allow for 500 hours of free therapy session hours throughout the year for those with low incomes but who are seeking mental healthcare.

Talkspace, a New York-based teletherapy company, announced it has now launched a new initiative called “Therapy for All” that will allow for 500 months of free therapy session hours throughout the year directed at helping people who can’t afford traditional in-person therapy.

The goal is to help low-income people who can’t always afford traditional in-person sessions. The therapy is mostly provided through a texting format.

At the recent Future of Therapy Conference in New York, Talkspace revealed what its been up to with this initiative along with some other insights on the impact of future treatment. One major focus was the many stories that indicated that so many people who can’t afford treatment are left to deal with their mental health issues alone.

Roni Frank, Talkspace co-founder and head of clinical services, said at the conference, “Mental health care is not a privilege for the rich. It is a right.”

At the conference, they also talked about whether or not social media and technology is affecting mental health and addiction. Here are some of the insights on this subject that came out of the at the conference.
