pediaq app screenshotPediatric concierge care startup PediaQ has raised $4.5 million from Texas investors, according to a company statement, as the Dallas-based company gears up for a national expansion of its network and managed care customer base.

In a statement, it said the new capital will be used to extend its services in the
Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston markets, enter the Austin market, as well as expand beyond the borders of its home state.

Parents use its app to request a nurse practitioner, receive a call from them and if necessary, the nurse practitioner will come over between 2pm to 10 pm during the week and 8 am to 10 pm on the weekend.

In a March interview at SXSW’s Health and MedTech eEpo, COO Matthew Vuckovich and CEO Jon O’Sullivan said to support a national expansion it would team up with health systems interested in creating greater access to patients
through digital health, including mobile applications. That’s similar to what at least one other concierge care company, Pager, has done.

PediaQ charges the equivalent of an urgent care co-pay of $35 to $65, depending on the plan, with an additional $25 convenience fee on top of that. Its website claims that these urgent care visits are covered by most insurance companies.

The statement said PediaQ has added video consultations to its Q.care platform in recent months and has completed more than 2,500 house calls since its launch in September 2015.
