CVS partners with Cleveland Clinic on MinuteClinic consults

By the end of the year, Cleveland Clinic doctors will be a phone call away to consult with nurse practitioners who staff nine MinuteClinics from Westlake to Chagrin Falls. The clinics, usually inside CVS Pharmacy stores, provide limited services, usually within a half-hour.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Drug store retailer CVS is partnering with the Cleveland Clinic at MinuteClinics in Northeast Ohio.

By the end of the year, Cleveland Clinic doctors will be a phone call away to consult with nurse practitioners who staff nine MinuteClinics from Westlake to Chagrin Falls.

The Clinic also is integrating its electronic medical record system for patients, called Cleveland Clinic MyChart, with those of MinuteClinic. At a patient’s request, MinuteClinic can share treatment information with Clinic-affiliated institutions through MyChart, the Clinic said in a written statement.

All but one of the Northeast Ohio MinuteClinics are located inside CVS Pharmacy stores. The Akron clinic is located inside a FirstMerit Bank branch.

MinuteClinics offer limited services, such as strep throat tests and flu shots, for minor illnesses, usually within a half-hour’s wait. Prices for services are posted on large boards above sign-in stations.

Prices range from $110 for a meningitis vaccination to $69 for a mononucleosis test to $19 for a follow-up visit to stop smoking. The clinics operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

MinuteClinics accept most medical insurance, and many services can be had for an insurance co-payment.
