CLEVELAND, Ohio — A record number of researchers from Case Western University and its affiliates will appear in the university’s Research ShowCASE from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the Veale Convocation Center. The event is free and open to the public.
More than 600 presenters will cover topics including whether soda is contributing to childhood obesity, a hospital’s bed-space environment can be stressful to patients, or whether a soft, worm-like robot can assist in minimally-invasive surgeries.
Health care dominates the event. But all 10 of the university’s colleges will present information derived from this year’s theme of Inspiring and Influencing the Future.
With the Rise of AI, What IP Disputes in Healthcare Are Likely to Emerge?
Munck Wilson Mandala Partner Greg Howison shared his perspective on some of the legal ramifications around AI, IP, connected devices and the data they generate, in response to emailed questions.
The event is one day this year as opposed to the typical two. Some of the discussions include “The Economy and Child and Youth Well-Being: Critical Issues for Research, Practice and Policy” at 9 a.m. and a panel on the impact of advanced energy in Northeast Ohio starting at 1 p.m.
Keynote speaker Mary Woolley, president of Research!America, will conclude the day with a 4 p.m. speech discussing the implications of the $10.4 billion in stimulus funding for the National Institutes of Health.
