PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania —Foundation Radiology Group picked up accreditation from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations — a nice bit of validation for the imaging services company as well as its first national accreditation.
The three-year, voluntary accreditation focuses on patient safety and quality of care. Commission auditors randomly select patients and review their medical records, as well as interview and observe staff that interact with the patients, according to the organization’s Web site.
It publishes details of its reviews and other data from accredited groups on its QualityCheck.org site. Foundation Radiology is not yet on the site.
Foundation Radiology is an imaging services company that has on-site and teleservices for hospitals and other health centers. Its services include neuroradiology, mammography, cardiac CT, pediatric radiology and general radiology, among others. And the group promises round-the-clock definitive analysis of medical images.
The accreditation comes a few months after Foundation in April raised $10 million to hire new radiologists and expand its diagnostic imaging and radiology service office.
